Golf: Tracy, West open league play with wins

Tracy 204, Chavez 283

Tracy got a win in the Bulldogs’ first San Joaquin Athletic Association match Tuesday at Swenson Park in Stockton. Alec Stroup was Tracy’s leading golfer with an even-par 36. Robert Erler shot 39, Anthony Napoli and Giovanni Manguray both shot 42, Talon Simmons shot 45 and Peter Van Ausdeln shot 48. It puts Tracy at 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the SJAA.

West 250, Edison 326

The West High golf team started the Tri-City Athletic League season with a 250-326 win on Monday at Old River Golf Course. Leading golfer for the day was West’s Austin Smith, who shot 44 on the par-36 course. West’s Nick Carrera shot 48, Bryce Noegel 49, Garrett Morris 52, Victor Villapando 57, and Cody Correia shot 61.

Edison’s golfers were Enrique Sanchez 55, Luis Dominguez 62, Cleetus Griffin 66, Antonio Rodriguez 69, and Samuel Galdamez 74.

It puts West a 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the TCAL.

Tracy 212, West 274

The golf team from Tracy High came up with the low score Thursday during their cross-town match against West at Old River Golf Course.

Tracy’s Robert Erler shot even-par 36 for the day’s top score.Anthony Napoli shot 38, Alec Stroup 41, Talon Simmons 48, Peter Van Ausdeln 49, and Amit Grewal 56.

West’s top golfer was Austin Smith with 46, Nick Carrera shot 52 ,Victor Villapando 57, Garrett Morris 58, Cody Correia 61, and Bryce Noegel shot 62.

Sonora 200, Kimball 218

The Jaguars golfers were dealt another Valley Oak League loss on Thursday after they traveled to Mountain Springs Golf Course for a match against the Sonora Wildcats on Thursday. Philip Simpson had Kimball’s top score of 38 on the par-36 course. Brett Williams shot 40, Michael Crooms 45, Riley Pizl 47, Reese Maxfield 48, and Theo Fornaciari shot 60. Kimball is now 4-2 overall, 0-2 in the VOL.
