Golf: Kimball team shoots best score yet

Kimball 193, Tracy 215

Kimball High’s golfers set a new school record with a team score of 193 at Old River Golf Course on Wednesday. It was good enough for a win over Tracy High, and puts the Jaguars at 4-0 leading up to the Valley Oak League season.

Kimball’s Philip Simpson shot 33 on the par-36 course, the first time for a Jaguar golfer to shoot under park. Riley Pizl scored 38, Brett Williams 39, Michael Crooms 40, Reese Maxfield 43 and Theo Fornaciari shot 46. Tracy’s scores were not available.

Kimball plays next at the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Stevinson Ranch Golf Course and opens up the league season on Tuesday at Old River against East Union.

Kimball 241, Pitman 257

The Kimball golf team claimed a win at Diablo Grande Golf Course on Tuesday, 241-257. Philip Simpson led the Jaguars with a score of 40 on the par-36 course, Riley Pizl scored 43, Brett Williams 44, Reese Maxfield 52, Theo Fornaciari 62 and Michael Crooms shot 66. The win puts the Jaguars at 3-0 for the season.



Lincoln Invitational

Tracy High’s golf team took ninth place and Kimball’s team tied for 11th after Monday’s Lincoln Invitational and Brookside Country Club in Stockton.

Tracy scored a team total of 429 strokes. Shivam Swamy led the Bulldogs with a score of 80 on the par-72 course. Anthony Napoli and Robert Erler both shot 82, Alec Stroup shot 83, Amit Grewal 102, and Talon Simmons 114

Kimball’s team score of 439 included a 75 for Brett Williams. Riley Pizl shot 81, Philip Simpson 82, Michael Crooms 98, Reese Maxfield 103 and Theo Forniciari shot 114.

Tournament champion was St. Mary’s with a team score of 368. Tracy finished ahead of San Joaquin Athletic Association rivals Lodi, 469, and Lincoln, 482.



Kimball 214, West 299

Kimball High’s golfers won their second match of the season, 214-299 over West High at Old River Golf Course on Thursday.

Top golfer for the day was Kimball’s Philip Simpson with a score of 38 on the par-36 course. Other scores for Kimball include Brett Williams 40, Riley Pizl 43, Reese Maxfield 45, Theo Fornaciari 48, and Karan Bains 49.

Scores for West were: Austin Smith 49, Nick Carrera 52, Garrett Morris 65, Cody Correia 66, Victor Villapando 66, and Bryce Noegel 72.



Kimball 201, Stagg 261

Kimball High’s golfer started their season by logging the lowest score yet for a Jaguar team, 201-261 against Stagg High at Old River Golf Course. Top golfer for the day was Kimball’s Riley Pizl with a score of 37 on the par-36 course.

Philip Simpson and Brett Williams both scored 38, Reese Maxfield shot 42, Theo Fornaciari shot 46 and Michael Crooms shot 47.
