An office supplies carrier is moving to a new location in Tracy.

Staples, currently at 2960 W. Grant Line Road, is moving to 2471 N. Naglee Road in the Tracy Pavilion Shopping Center, according to company spokesperson Carrie McElwee.

She didn’t know when the current location would close, but said the company plans to open its new doors by late May.

“There are so many moving pieces, so I don’t know exact dates right now,” she said. “It’s just too hard to talk about specifics.”

McElwee said the company has already signed a lease for the new office space. The move comes on the heels of an announcement in 2011 that the company will reduce its store sizes to around 15,000 square feet. She was unsure of the store’s existing square footage, but noted that the new location is slightly smaller.

“(It will) fit our new prototype of what we want our stores to look like,” McElwee said.

Founded in 1986, Staples is headquartered outside of Boston and employs more than 90,000 workers in 26 countries, according to the company’s website. The office supplier also ranks second in the world in eCommerce sales with $25 billion annually, the website states.
