Tracy police received 178 calls for service Tuesday, Feb. 28. The following is a sample of those calls.
3:11 a.m.: A call for a stalker on the 3000 block of Holly Drive may have been precipitated by a porch sunshade swinging in the wind. Police arrested a 32-year-old man at 4:38 p.m. in connection with the original call, however, after the woman’s son reportedly followed a man from the house.
6:14 a.m.: A hospital official reported a man walked away from Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, 1420 N. Tracy Blvd., with an IV attached to his arm. The hospital requested police contact the man to get him to return so they could remove the needle.
6:50 a.m.: Police arrested two men, ages 52 and 31, on the 2400 block of Hanson Road. The arrests occurred after police conducted a search and found someone had been growing marijuana in the basement of the house. The two men were booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.
7:41 a.m.: A purse was reported stolen out of a car outside Kindercare, 265 W. Grant Line Road.
8:18 a.m.: An online report was made for the theft of something out of a vehicle near Van’s ACE Hardware, 2695 N. Tracy Blvd.
8:32 a.m.: A purse was taken out of a car after someone broke the car window on the 1900 block of Maplegrove Lane. The owner said the thief left her credit cards and cell phone behind.
11:45 a.m.: A man was told he could be a millionaire if he gave money to a caller on the 500 block of West Fourth Street. He told police a caller said he should go to CVS pharmacy, purchase a green card and put money on it. He said he was told to call after he did it, and he would receive a million dollars. The man said he just wanted police to know about the call.
1:16 p.m.: Police were called to Tracy High School, 315 E. 11th St., for a burglary.
2:33 p.m.: A homeless encampment was reported in a tree area across from Walmart, 3010 W. Grant Line Road. A caller said there was a tent, but police found no one in the area.
3:52 p.m.: A woman called to say her car was broken into on the 100 block of West 12th Street.
5:29 p.m.: A man carrying an orange gas can was seen harassing customers for gasoline at the am/pm at 2430 Joe Pombo Parkway. He was gone before police arrived.
7:07 p.m.: Two teenage boys were seen throwing rocks at an SUV at Duncan-Russell High School, 164 W. Grant Line Road. Police checked and found the truck was not damaged.
8:46 p.m.: A security guard reported a man wandered into the Orchard Supply Warehouse area at 2650 N. MacArthur Drive. She said he walked past the guard shack and into a nearby field. Police found the man.
