Air Force honors local for valor

Tech. Sgt. Jaime A. Medina of the U.S. Air Force, a graduate

of West High School, has been awarded his second Bronze Star Medal for valor and the Air Force Combat Action Medal for actions on his sixth deployment. The medals were awarded Dec. 3.

Medina served as a joint terminal attack controller and is an employee of Defense Distribution Depot San Joaquin, Tracy Depot.

He was born and raised in Tracy.



West High alumna earns Army commission

U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Ling-Sze Wong recently graduated from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga., and received her commission.

Wong completed 12 weeks of training, including instruction in leadership, ethics, tactics, defense, intelligence and navigation and a battery of physical fitness tests.

The daughter of Albert Wong of Tracy, she graduated from West High School in 2006. She earned her bachelor’s degree from University of California, Davis, in 2009.

This is a perfect example for other kids to follow. Finally a breath of fresh air. Good job to the both of you. See kids? You can take the high road or low road, these guys took the high road. I am sure it was tough for them as well but didn't throw in the towel.
