Gavin, a 1½-year-old dachshund-terrier mix, is ready for a permanent home, and East of Eden Canine Rescue has discounted his adoption fee from $190 to $50. With a comical hopping run, this little dog is described as confident and happy-go-lucky. Mojo, a 4½-year-old Chihuahua-papillon mix, also has a special $50 fee, and all East of Eden rescue cats can be adopted for $25 for adults or $45 for young cats. All animals are neutered or spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. East of Eden will not have its usual adoption fair Saturday, Dec. 24, but will return the following weekend, Dec. 31. Profiles of dogs and cats in rescue can be viewed at www.eoerescue.org. The nonprofit animal rescue group can be reached at 925-980-3035.

• Animal Rescue of Tracy’s adoption fairs will be closed for the Christmas weekend, but email and voice messages about adoptable animals will be returned. Animal Rescue of Tracy is a nonprofit, all-volunteer rescue group. To inquire about an animal in rescue, email adopt@animalrescuetracy.org or call 642-4324.
