West 35, Sierra 21

West (1-1) put up a stubborn press in Friday’s game at Sierra High in Manteca, allowing the Timberwolves just one field goal through the first half. Sierra also made four free throws in the first quarter, but didn’t score again until six minutes into the third quarter. West had a 15-6 lead at the half and outpaced Sierra into the fourth quarter.

Emma Bell scored 12 points, Nini Woodward scored seven, and Nina Pritchett scored five. Kate Bell scored five and Erica Green scored four, and both were the core of West’s defense.

West plays again at home on Tuesday against Franklin High of Stockton.
