Press staff report
Tracy High graduate Steven Ramos, Class of 2008, is making an impression in the St. Louis Cardinals baseball organization.
Ramos just finished his second year with Johnson City Cardinals of Tennessee, the team that has won the Appalachian League title both years Ramos has played outfield for the Cardinals.
BaseballAmerica.com recently reported that the Cardinals will look for speed in their 2011 draft picks, noting that the Rookie-level Cardinals already have “one of the top young speedsters in the system” with Ramos. He had 19 steals in 24 attempts last season, finishing second on the team behind Matthew Williams (20 steals in 22 attempts), making him seventh in the league in stolen bases.
