Nominations for the top citizens of Tracy are being accepted as the chamber of commerce prepares to honor them at the 2012 Community Recognition Awards gala.

The awards will honor the male and female citizens of the year, along with an entrepreneur, business, professional and organization of the year.

Last year’s respective winners were Jim Meservy, Darlene Quinn, Joleen Ruffin, De Vinci’s Deli, Juana Dement and the Tracy Breakfast Lions. An ambassador of the year — 2010’s was Lisa Aguilera — is chosen by other ambassadors and isn’t open to nomination.

Nominations forms are available at the chamber office, 223 E. 10th St., or through their website, www.tracychamber.org. Nominations must be turned in by 5 p.m. Dec. 2, a Friday, at the chamber office.

A selection committee of past award recipients and chamber members will make the final decisions, which will be announced at a press conference Dec. 6.

Winners will be honored at the Winter Gala in February 2012 at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts.

For more information on the Community Recognition Awards, contact the chamber’s Sophia Valenzuela at 835-2131.
