PG&E partnered with DonorsChoose.org to match 50 percent of the funds raised by the community to help buy supplies for local schools, including art goods and athletic equipment, through a project called Double Your Impact.
By inspiring a dollar-for-dollar match, PG&E’s $25,000 investment will help deliver $50,000 to San Joaquin County classrooms. About 120 classroom projects should be boosted, and 3,600 students across San Joaquin County should benefit.
Those looking to make a donation can go to the website and pick from the wish lists of teachers from across the country. Those who want to fund a local school project can go to the website, DonorsChoose.org, and select Tracy, Calif.
According to the DonorsChoose website, there are three teachers from South-West Park Elementary seeking funds to purchase items that include science supplies, a camcorder and playground equipment. Teachers at Jacobson Elementary and Poet Christian School are looking for art supplies, and a teacher at Tracy Joint High School is asking for money that will buy protective gloves for science experiments.
“PG&E has been committed to supporting local communities for more than 100 years,” said Charles Best, founder and CEO of DonorsChoose.org in a press release. “This is an exciting initiative for our organization and will enable citizens to engage with innovative teachers in a simple, immediate way.”
