Downtown Tracy took on a distinctly blue hue this afternoon, as hundreds of West High boosters lined Central Avenue and 10th Street for the school’s annual homecoming parade.

Let by the Wolf Pack marching band, the classes of 2011 through 2015 showed their spirit through Disney-themed floats and cheers along the route of the parade.

While the Lil Sprout, Bean Princess and Bean Queen waved from the back of convertibles, West cheerleaders tossed candy to the children in the crowd and the homecoming princes, princesses — not to mention the king and queen, Adrian DelaCruz and Melissa Villacarte — waved to the onlookers.

Also included in the festivities were several school clubs as well as the Monte Vista Middle School band.

The parade is prelude to the homecoming football games later today, with the sophomores kicking off at 5 p.m. and varsity starting at 7:15, both against the defending Tri-City Athletic League champs St. Mary’s Rams.

The week’s festivities end with a dance Saturday night at the West High gymnasium.

So where are the pictures of all this festivity? Why so stingy with the pictures? I know of town papers 1/4 the size of Tracy that have dozens of photos of these type of events.

The picture of random people on the sidewalk isn't very interesting, unless you're one of the random people on the sidewalk maybe. Don't you use thousands of dollars worth of camera gear that is capable of taking hundreds of pictures in a matter of minutes? Why only 6 pictures? I'm not saying we need galleries of every robbery and car crash but I think parades and events like this deserve more attention. Think about it TP.
