Tracy 18, Pitman 6

Tracy High’s freshmen traveled to Turlock High on Wednesday to play Pitman, and finished with an 18-6 win to finish the pre-league half of their season undefeated at 5-0.

The Bulldogs scored in the first quarter on Michael Brown’s pass to Joshua Clarke, and Jake Serrato’s 59-yard return on an interception in the second quarter put Tracy up 12-0 at the half. Pitman scored at the end of the third to make it a close contest through most of the fourth quarter. Richard Vasquez scored a touchdown at the end of the fourth to extend Tracy’s lead to 18-6, and Serrato intercepted a Pitman pass to give Tracy possession as the clock ran out.

Brown passed for 139 yards, completing six of eight passes, including a 61-yard pass to Nate Jones. Pitman’s defense held Tracy to 70 yards on the ground. Tracy’s leading defender was Vasquez with nine tackles.

Oakdale 37, Kimball 22

A series of late second-quarter turnovers turned Kimball High’s freshman football game in Oakdale’s favor Thursday in Oakdale.

Teams were tied 8-8 at the end of the first quarter, with the Jaguars Ryan King scoring a touchdown for Kimball in the first quarter. A lost fumble allowed the Mustangs to go ahead in the second, and Oakdale converted two more of Kimball’s lost fumbles, one on the following kickoff and the other one play after the next kickoff, into touchdowns to make it 30-8 game at the half.

The Jaguars scored two more times in the second half. Rashaad Cooper ran one in from 40 yards in the third quarter and scored again on a 1-yard run in the fourth, while the Mustangs scored one more in the third quarter. It puts the Jaguars at 2-3 for the season.
