Tracy firefighters held a solemn ceremony at stations around Tracy this morning as crews marked the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

All seven Tracy Fire Department stations gathered in the morning darkness to remember the 343 New York firefighters that were killed when hijacked jetliners crashed into the two World Trade Center towers.

At 5:40 a.m. this morning crews turned on the fire engine emergency lights and gathered near the station flagpole. At 5:46 a.m. the flag was lowered to half-staff remembering the time the first jet struck the north tower. A moment of silence was held and a pastor offered a prayer.

September 11 remembrance ceremonies will conclude with a service at 11 a.m. at the Bean Festival.
