Runners will still be able to register Saturday morning, Sept. 10, for the Bean Run, the opening event for the 2011 Tracy Dry Bean Festival.

Same-day registration will begin at 6 a.m. at the Tracy Branch Library, 20 E. Eaton Ave., next to the start and finish lines for the 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer races. The race begins at 8 a.m., and there will be awards for first, second and third place in each age group.

Both races will begin at the library and head west toward Parker Avenue and then north to 21st Street, where they will head east to East Street. The 5-k runners will head south on East Street and wind along Carlton and Franklin avenues, Eaton Avenue and East Street, running along Highland Avenue to Holly Drive and then back to the library.

The 10-k race will head north from 21st Street to Grant Line Road and continue to MacArthur Drive where runners will head south to Mariani Court. They’ll go back the way they came all the way to the intersection of East and 21st streets, rejoining the route for the 5-k race.
