As the start of the school year approaches, some local children need help getting the supplies they need. An annual Stuff the Bus school-supplies drive is planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 13, a week from Saturday.

Coordinated by Tracy-based orthodontist Andrew Trosien, the drive is a way for residents to help children with the tools to start the school year right. The cost of school supplies has become increasingly burdensome for some families, and this is a way to ease the burden, coordinators said.

Among the supplies that are most in demand are pens, pencils, notebooks, binders, folders and loose-leaf paper.

The collection will be at Walmart, 3010 W. Grant Line Road, or items can be dropped off in advance at Trosien’s office, 2850 Tracy Blvd., Ste. 300.
