The driver of a van was pinned inside Monday afternoon after he crashed into the back of a pickup stopped in heavy traffic on Byron Road.

The pickup and the van were both traveling toward town just before 5 p.m.

As both vehicles neared Grant Line Road, traffic was backed up in the roadway as drivers waited to cross the intersection. The pickup stopped, and the van struck the right rear section, collapsing the van’s driver’s compartment. The driver, 58-year-old Mark Church of Tracy, was pinned inside and had to be cut free of the wreckage by fire crews. He was airlifted to an area hospital in stable condition and was scheduled to undergo surgery today for his injuries.

Byron Road was closed in both directions for about 45 minutes as crews freed the driver and investigated the crash scene.

...get well soon Mark. OG... you're forgiven I'm sure, by at least myself. We are all only human. Personal attacks happen, and should be forgiven, whether malicious or in jest. This is how we learn.

Mark Church, all readers an staff members of Tracy Press.

Earlier today I wrote a very negative comment that was, in point of fact, a personal an public attack against Mark.

Not only do I apologize to Mark, I also apologize for ta all of th readers of these comment sections as well as th TP staff who monitor these comment sections.

Bein close ta th personal activities of any person, public or private, is certainly no excuse for my poor behavior in public an in this I admit my behavior was inexcusable.

Th only thang I can really do at this point is ta offer my public apology an hope fer understandin an forgiveness even though I know I deserve neither.

I will also assure all of ya at this time that this deplorable action of mine is somethang I shall personally monitor in th future an shall make every attempt not ta do it again.

I am pleased Mark is not seriously hurt an hope fer his speedy recovery.

Sincerely

OG
