Former Tracy resident Juan De Hoyos, M.D., wed Karen Heth Thurman on May 15, 2011, in a ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church of Tracy, followed by a reception at the Grand Island Mansion in Walnut Grove.

Juan grew up in Tracy, graduating from Tracy High School in 1968, but now lives in Pleasanton. He works as a staff psychiatrist for the Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital System. His parents are Lee and Trini Dunn, both of Tracy.

Karen lived in San Antonio, Texas, and worked 15 years as senior art director and publications designer at the University of Texas at San Antonio before moving to Pleasanton. Her parents are Col. Maynard and Bobbie Heth of North Richland Hills, Texas. She has two children, Nathan Thurman of San Antonio and Johanna Thurman of New York City, N.Y.

Johanna was the maid of honor, and Nathan gave his mother away. The best man was Arthur Martinez of Stuttgart, Germany, and the Rev. Everett Bosch conducted the ceremony.

The newlyweds honeymooned in Germany and have made their home together in Pleasanton.
