Police Log: Woman interrupts burglars

A woman called to report she came home and found someone trying to break inside on the 1700 block of Groveview Way at 10:01 p.m. Wednesday, June 22. She said one suspect got into an old Dodge Caravan and left, and another man was seen running away. She said they were in the backyard trying to get inside through a backdoor. Police are investigating.

Police received 147 calls for service on Wednesday, June 22. The following is a sample of those calls.

12:54 a.m.: Police arrested a 34-year-old woman following a hit and run near Duncan Drive and Lincoln Boulevard. The caller said the driver of the van was trying to leave the accident scene after hitting a parked car.

2:22 a.m.: A caller reported a homeless man was harassing customers at Nations, 3574 N. Tracy Blvd. The man said he was going to people if they went outside. Police couldn’t find him.

3:08 a.m.: Police arrested a 39-year-old woman following a call for shots fired on the 1900 block of Thomas Dehaven Court. The arrest came after police received a call from a woman crying that someone shot at her house. She said her roommate had friends over and after they were asked to leave, she said she heard a shot. The group reportedly left in a white Expedition, which police stopped with two women inside. The woman arrested was booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.

7:04 a.m.: A caller reported someone kicked in the garage door of a on the 900 block of Alden Glen Drive. He said it appears some items are missing.

7:59 a.m.: An online report was made for a vehicle burglary at Sutter Gould Medical, 2151 W. Grant Line Road.

8:31 a.m.: An online report was made for a theft from a gym locker at In Shape City, 239 W. 11th St.

8:41 a.m.: A caller reported someone sprayed graffiti on the electrical box and sign near Henley Parkway and Lowell Avenue.

8:50 a.m.: A caller reported a large hawk was stuck in a fence at Villalovoz Elementary School, 1550 Cypress Drive.

9:35 a.m.: Police arrested a 25-year-old man on the 300 block of Jaeger Street. The arrest came after a caller reported her friend was in a fight with another man.

11:11 a.m.: A caller reported a baby owl in the back of a pickup at Borges Towing, 850 N. MacArthur Drive.

12:30 p.m.: A caller reported someone broke into a house she cleans on the 1600 block of Biarritz Street. Police checked the house and found a 2009 Honda Pilot was missing.

1:55 p.m.: A caller reported an 11-year-old broke into his apartment and stole a PlayStation on the 200 block of West Grant Line Road. The tenant got the game back. The child was counseled by police and released to his mother.

3:05 p.m.: A caller reported two pit bulls running loose near Reyes and Travao lanes. She said her husband was following them in his pickup and now the dogs were resting under a tree. The owner of the dogs was contacted and issued a citation.

4:22 p.m.: A caller reported two children playing gang members near Carlton Way and Holly Drive. He said one had a toy gun in the front of his pants. Police were unable to locate the children.

5:49 p.m.: A caller reported her 4-year-old son ran out of the house and down the street on the 1300 block of Montgomery Lane. She said she checked the park and his friends and she could not find him. She called back a few minutes later and said she found the boy hiding near his grandmother’s.

6:58 p.m.: A caller reported someone put graffiti on his garage on the 300 block of West Emerson Avenue.

7:48 p.m.: A caller reported a large tree branch fell and was blocking the roadway on the 100 block of Hollywood Avenue. He said a chainsaw would be required to remove it. Police notified city workers.

8:22 p.m.: A man found a bicycle in his bushes on the 100 block of Spring Court. He said he saw neighborhood kids put the bicycle there, and he thought it might be stolen.

10:18 p.m.: A caller reported someone broke into his car while he was gone a few minutes on the 2800 block of Lincoln Boulevard. He said he found his car doors open and his stereo missing. He did not want to make a police report.

1:55 p.m.: A caller reported an 11-year-old broke into his apartment and stole a PlayStation on the 200 block of West Grant Line Road. The tenant got the game back. The child was counseled by police and released to his mother.

The kid should have been arrested. He broke into a home and stole. He will do it again.

The owner was contacted and reminded: Unofficially livestock is an extra $175.oo per day for storage.
