Police detained a man on the 500 block of West Carlton Way, but he started trying to hit his own head on the concrete. He was taken to the hospital, and by 4:28 a.m. had broken the hospital bed he was restrained to.
At 7:53 a.m., the man was transferred to Doctors Hospital in Modesto because of bleeding in his brain. Police checked on the man around 11 a.m. and found he was in stable condition.
Tracy police received 141 calls for service Thursday, May 22. The following is a sample of those calls.
1:17 a.m.: A man at 7-Eleven, 455 W. Grant Line Road, who said he had a history of cutting himself and had just walked to town from Pittsburg wanted to be taken to “mental health.” He was transported to Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.
7:50 a.m.: A caller said there were three kids sitting in a white pickup and smoking drugs on the 200 block of Berverdor Avenue.
8:44 a.m.: Police were told that a teenager in central Tracy posted on his Facebook account that “he didn’t want to live any more.” It turned out the boy was just angry that his mother “flushed his stash” of marijuana down the toilet.
8:57 a.m.: A man was arrested and taken to San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp after he and a woman were involved in a fight in central Tracy.
11:21 a.m.: A man was arrested after allegedly making threats near Kelly School, 535 Mabel Josephine Drive.
11:54 a.m.: Someone made an online vandalism report for graffiti on the 300 block of West Sixth Street.
11:55 a.m.: Someone made an online vandalism report for graffiti at Auto Zone, 1122 W. 11th St.
1:02 p.m.: A customer at Big and Tall, 2005 Pescadero Ave., reported that two men stole something from the store and left in a Chevy Tahoe. Police checked with the business, and it wasn’t clear that any items were actually taken.
2:19 p.m.: A caller on the 400 block of Hintz Avenue asked for extra nighttime patrols, as her chairs were moved around the previous evening and neighbors heard people jumping fences.
3:37 p.m.: A woman pepper sprayed a pit bull that attacked “one of her other pit bulls” on the 1200 block of Brighton Drive. Both dogs were injured.
4:21 p.m.: A man reportedly tried to lure a third-grade girl into a late-model Subaru on the 800 block of Sequoia Boulevard.
5:22 p.m.: Police transferred a report of a driver under the influence near Grant Line and Byron roads to the California Highway Patrol after the caller said the man entered Interstate 205.
5:23 p.m.: A caller on the 1300 block of Manley Drive said a stray chicken had returned to the house, and it couldn’t be contained.
5:26 p.m.: A man with a suspected gang affiliation was arrested outside Mi Ranchito Market, 215 N. Central Ave., and released with a citation for trespassing.
7:59 p.m.: Police checked on a woman on the 1800 block of Earl Way who hadn’t been seen by a neighbor for a few days. The elderly woman was fine.
8:45 p.m.: A man living near David Ernest and Alegre drives said a local home was a place where frequent drug sales go down.
11:05 p.m.: Two cars were involved in a crash at Grant Line and Toste roads, but no one was seriously injured.
