Lisa Thompson is following a well-established family tradition in becoming Tracy’s Junior Miss for 2012.

She was winner of the title Saturday night, April 30, at the conclusion of the annual pageant, held in the John C. Kimball High School auditorium.

Lisa is not the first member of her family to finish high in the judging of the annual pageant, which also carries the name of Tracy Young Women of Distinction.

Her sister, Laura, was a pageant winner in 2007, and another sister, Lindsey, was runner-up in 2009.

“The Thompson sisters have all been outstanding participants in our pageants,” said longtime pageant chairman Bob Haupt. “They have established a wonderful tradition.”

Lisa, a Tracy High junior and daughter of John and Tammy Thompson of Tracy, won a $1,000 college scholarship as pageant winner and a $250 scholarship as tops in fitness. She plans to attend Texas Christian University to prepare for a career in nursing.

As local pageant winner, she will take part in the California Young Women of Distinction pageant in July in Bakersfield. She will perform a tap dance, the same talent she displayed in Saturday’s pageant.

Also winning scholarships, which totaled $2,700, were first alternate Renata Guzman, who also was first in self expression; Upinderpreet Gill, scholastic achievement; Cynthia Freeburg, talent; and Jannel Mariano, Spirit of Junior Miss.
