Tracy native earns Eagle rank

Kevin Carter, a member of Boy Scouts of America Crew 503, will be recognized Saturday, May 7, after completing 26 merit badges and an Eagle Scout project dedicated to Tracy girl Sandra Cantu, who was kidnapped and murdered two years ago.

Carter’s service project included child safety fairs in Tracy and Manteca, during which he and a team of volunteers assembled identification records for 350 boys and girls, including their photographs, fingerprints, DNA and vital statistics.

Saturday’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1981 Chester Drive.

Carter, a lifelong Tracy resident, is a student at West High School.

Local graduates from police academy

Antheney Alegre graduated in April from Monterey Peninsula College Police Academy. He will work as a California State Parks police officer.

Alegre, a 2005 graduate of Tracy High School, is the son of Dennis and Sidney Alegre of Tracy.
