12 juniors to vie for pageant title

Twelve candidates — all high school junior girls — will compete Saturday night, April 30, for the title of Tracy’s Junior Miss.

The annual pageant, now in its 40th year, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Kimball High School auditorium.

The 12 participants will be take part in singing, dancing, gymnastics, public speaking and talent events, said Bob Haupt, chairman for the sponsoring Kiwanis Club of Tracy.

The winner will be named Tracy’s Distinguished Young Woman, in line with the new name of the national pageant, Haupt said.

Scholarships will be awarded to the winner and runner-up, and the winner will take part in the statewide pageant in July at Bakersfield.

Participants will be Abby Santora, Mary Gerhart, Cynthia Freeburg, Jannel Mariano, Abigail Crandall, Traci Jenson, Nadia Vijeh, Renata Guzman, Upinderpreet Gill, Jennifer Reynoso, Jeannette Arrabit and Lisa Thompson.

Tickets, $15, can be purchased at Richard’s Men’s Wear, 10th and B streets, or at the door Saturday evening at Kimball High, 3200 Jaguar Run. High school students with student body cards can reserve seats for $10.
