Kimball High’s tennis team finished its season with a 5-0 win at home over Lathrop on Thursday, putting the Jaguars at 9-5 in the Valley Oak League, which qualifies the team for a spot in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs. The section has yet to announce the brackets and locations for the first round of playoffs, which will begin on Monday, May 2.
Next up for the Jaguars is the Valley Oak League singles tournament in Sonora on Tuesday, April 26. The VOL’s doubles tournament will also be in Sonora on Thursday, April 28.
The Jaguars won all of Thursday’s matches in straight sets. Scores were: Logan Staggs beat Ivan Alegado 6-0, 6-0; Amir Kabariti beat Andrew Kovanis 6-2, 6-0; Daniel Lee beat Justin Dawe 6-0, 6-1; Beau Lawrence and Marco Tello beat Bobby Singh and George Domingo 6-0, 6-1; Raj Singh and Baye Kuumba beat Roosevelt Theoder and Arvin Aragon 6-2, 6-4.
Kimball 3, Oakdale 2
Kimball hosted Oakdale on Tuesday, April 19, for a Valley Oak League win. The Jaguars won both doubles matches and one of the singles matches. Wins for Kimball were: Logan Staggs beat Daniel Dunning 6-0, 6-1; Mark Dalupan and Marco Tello beat Jared Firstbrook 6-2, 2-6, 6-1; and Kevin Sung and Beau Lawrence beat Austin Clayton and Jeremy Willinger 6-3, 6-1.
Wins for Oakdale were: Anton Grenval beat Amir Kabariti 6-2, 6-1; and Paul Perrone beat Daniel Lee 6-0, 6-2.
