Tracy driver Justin Philpott got his first win of the 2011 season at the opening night of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Stockton 99 Speedway on Saturday, April 9.

Philpott, who was the 2009 track champion in the series, placed first in the second of two 50-lap Western Late Model races on Saturday, April 9. The race started with Sammy Solari and Colby Potts starting off in the front row, with Solari in the lead for the first 16 laps. Philpott took over the lead on lap 17 and, with Guy Guibor in close pursuit, held on for the win.

Justin Philpott and his cousin, Ryan Philpott, also placed in the first race, with Ryan Philpott taking second place after Jeff Belletto after Philpott passed Nic Belleto on Lap 49. The cars made contact, which caused Belleto’s car to go up against the wall and pushed him back to fifth place. Justin Philpott placed fourth in the race. David Philpott, Justin’s father, also entered the race and moved up to the ninth position before he was knocked out in Lap 32.

The Philpotts, including Justin and Ryan, race next at the Toyota/NAPA AutoCare 150 on Saturday night, April 16, at All-American Speedway in Roseville, the second race of the year for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.
