Max is a playful 7-month-old kitten. She’ll often jump up onto a friend’s lap, and she’s likely to lap at an unattended glass of milk. Max is also used to having a lot of family around and likes to play with other cats and people. If a potential adopter has no other cats, rescuers suggest adopting her with her brother, Leo, so they can keep each other company — plus, there’s a discount for two. Max is spayed, up-to-date on medications, and microchipped for identification.

• East of Eden is a nonprofit animal rescue organization. Its volunteers are at Petco, 2888 Grant Line Road, from noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays. For information, call 815-5186.
