Ex-councilwoman to speak to business group

Evelyn Tolbert, who stepped down in 2010 after 12 years on the City Council, will speak to members of Tracy Express Network during the group’s next gathering.

The networking group, part of the American Business Women’s Association, will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. March 29 at the Platinum conference center, third floor, Ninth Street and Central Avenue.

Tolbert will discuss active involvement in the community.

The meeting is free to members. Guests may pay $10 to attend.

Toastmasters to host speech contest

The Tracy Toastmasters will have a speech contest from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Tracy Branch Library, 20 E. Eaton Ave.

Speakers from area Toastmasters groups will compete to move on to regionals.

The group’s regular meetings are from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Fridays at Perko’s Café, 1321 W. 11th St. New members are welcome.

American Legion Auxiliary to meet

The James McDermott Unit 172 American Legion Auxiliary will have its next meeting at noon Tuesday, March 22, at Perko’s Café, 1321 W. 11th St.
