A line of portraits and landscapes formed up at the door as artists arrived Friday evening to drop off their artwork as the Tracy Art League began accepting entries for the Expressions! juried art show.

The annual art show, sponsored by the Tracy Art League, is expected to draw 400 entries, including oil, acrylic, watercolor or pastel paintings; pencil sketches; and mixed media. Volunteers began arranging the art along the walls of the Community Center as they readied the art works for judging and selection for the show. Artists will also have Saturday to drop their work off at the Community Center for entry in the show.

The juror for this year’s Expressions! is local artist Tina Moore a realistic artist who specializes in portraits and animals. She is also the exhibits chair and president of the Pastel Society of the Golden West.

The Expressions! show will open with an artist’s reception on Feb. 18, and will feature children’s tours from the different area schools Feb. 14 through 17, and again on Feb. 22 through the 25. The Tracy Art League is expecting close to 3,000 Tracy Unified School District students to visit the art collection for the docent led tour and discussion. Public viewing will begin Feb. 19 and 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and continue Feb. 21 through 25 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Selected works from the show will take a turn on display at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts at the Expressions! Selections show, which will grace the downtown art gallery March 12 through April 16. The opening reception for the Grand’s Expressions! show will be from 6 to 8 p.m. March 12, with the gallery talk about the artwork April 9 from noon to 2 p.m.
