Laura Rose Speer and Benjamin David Cox, both of Chico, will marry in Cancun on June 23, 2011. The couple announced their engagement June 12, 2010, in North Lake Tahoe.

The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of Tracy High School and of Chico Beauty College. She works as a hair stylist at Giada Salon. Her parents are Mike and Patricia Speer of Banta, and her siblings are Michael and Kevin Speer of Banta. She is the granddaughter of Norma Shaddle of Lincoln.

The future groom is a 2005 Trinity High School and a 2010 graduate of Chico State University. He works at Outback Steakhouse. His parents are Dave Cox of Weaverville and Brenda Anderson of Medford, Ore., and his siblings are Amanda Cox and Kaitlyn Anderson of Medford and Kyle, Claire and Owen Cox of Weaverville. He is the grandson of Charlotte Cox of Portland, Ore.

The two plan to honeymoon in Cancun.
