The couple met in 2005. On April 4, 2010, during a family Easter picnic with nearly 120 of their relatives, Matthew proposed to Marcella by presenting her with a plastic egg that held a black diamond ring.
The bride-to be is the daughter of John and Mary McDonnell of Oakley. She works as a nanny in Oakley and is a freelance hair and makeup artist. In her free time, she likes to throw parties and entertain at the couple’s home in Pittsburg. Marcella graduated from Freedom High School in Oakley in 2004 and from Elite Progressive School of Cosmetology in 2008.
The groom-to-be is a warehouse supervisor and also enjoys entertaining. He graduated from San Leandro High School in 1999.
They have planned their wedding for May 21, 2011, in Lodi.
