A woman reported at 12:35 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, that she heard a car driving in her neighborhood that she suspects may belong to the owner that shot into her home on the 100 block of East Seventh early Saturday morning. She said that the car sounded like the one that was in the neighborhood on the night of the shooting, and that it had been passing by her residence for the past two hours.

It was reported Saturday morning that shots were fired into two homes, on East Seventh and F streets. Police said the shooting was gang-related.

Police logged 156 calls for service on Monday, Jan. 31, including the following reports.

9:31 a.m.: A caller’s teenage daughter was reportedly the victim of a hit-and-run accident near Tracy High School. It was reported that she was hit by a woman driving a silver Ford Fusion, who fled the scene. The suspect’s vehicle was last seen parked on Mae Avenue.

10 a.m.: A person reported an abandoned vehicle that has been repeatedly vandalized at Tracy Sports Complex, 955 Crossroads Drive. The blue Jaguar has been parked at the location since Monday, Jan. 24, and has been tagged and had a window broken out. Police ordered that the car be towed.

11:23 a.m.: Two women were arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor when police were called from JC Penney, 3100 Naglee Road. Jessica Durante and Melissa Thompson, both 18, were booked into San Joaquin County jail and are being held on $110,000 bail pending a hearing Wednesday afternoon.

11:33 a.m.: It was reported that graffiti was found on Fabio’s Restaurant, 88 W. 10th St.

11:43 a.m.: It was reported that graffiti was found at Academy of Arts, 124 W. 10th Street.

11:53 a.m.: It was reported that graffiti was found at Roasted Bean, 69 W. 10th St.

1:06 p.m.: A man reported that three boys were loitering in the parking lot at Century 21 M&M and Associates, 912 W. 11th St. The boys were not doing anything illegal, but there was concern since the business and vehicles in the parking lot were recently vandalized.

1:15 p.m.: A man reported that another man stole his leaf blower and weed eater out of his work trailer on Chaplin Way and Sycamore Parkway. The Stihl weed eater is valued at $450, while the Stihl blower is valued at $600. The suspect was last seen driving south on Sycamore Parkway in a white Toyota pickup.

2:12 p.m.: A man reported that his mother’s wallet was stolen at Marshall’s, 2481 Naglee Road. He also stated that the suspect used one of her cards for a purchase.

2:33 p.m.: A woman reported that a motor home backed into her silver Cadillac Escalade on 10th Street and then fled the scene. She described the 1985 Toyota motor home as older, white with tan stripes, and that it has disabled plates.

3:52 p.m.: Two men tried to avoid arrest on West and South streets. One man was arrested on suspicion residential burglary and receiving known stolen property. He tried to outrun police by heading north on Fourth Street through a gate, but was tracked down. The other man who tried to outrun police by running into a field near an apartment complex on West Mount Diablo Avenue was charged with marijuana possession and was released. Raymond Rodriguez was booked into San Joaquin County Jail without bail.

I don't think much time, if any, was devoted to gang suppression at the last council meeting. But then the mayor has probably purposefully forgotten his demand from the city manager and the police chief to come back with a plan for addressing gang violence.

If the city manager stalls it long enough the mayor and council will forget and the police chief will be off the hook again.

What we need is a good old fashioned house cleaning at city hall and police headquarters. This council had better keep in mind the residents of Tracy are getting fed up with the useless excuses on why nothing gets done. Churchill should remember that he works for the mayor and council, who work for us. Not the other way around.

Perhaps that woman should get out of the house and keep a low profile for her neighbor's protection, a stray bullet could kill a child in another house!

Does she want the responsibility for the harm to other people due to vendettas?

Tommybahama, i do a lot of driving through Tracy, not much in the outter areas but, the original Tracy. I have not seen any improvement what so ever with the police presents. I do not mean to talk them down, in fact they do a great job, it is just this useless chief they have that lacks leadership, this includes the group in city hall. I really do not think she cares. She does not know how to do her job, she is also insulated with Lt's.

You can bet that if these gang bangers were cruising Hidden Lakes Neighborhood or Elissa-Gerry neighborhood the mayor and the city manager would already have officers posted at all the intersections, since that's where they live!

You can also bet that's why the police chief moved. She used to live in the area where these activities were going on, but she couldn't stand the noise or the violence.

When things like this occur in the Downtown neighborhoods no one from the city administration or the council give a rip about taking care of the problem. All they care about is more taxes so they can make more excuses about why they deserve those big salaries and exclusive benefits packages.

They're all useless!
