Performers will showcase a variety of talents, ranging from song and dance to drama and martial arts, in the talent revue set for Saturday, March 5, at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts. But performers must audition their way into the talent show before a panel of judges, with three tryouts scheduled for early February.
Each audition will be limited to just 24 performers, either solo acts or a group. The auditions will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Jacobson School; 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Kelly School; and 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at North School.
Along with the singing, dancing and musical performances, entries in drama, spoken word, martial arts and gymnastics are also eligible. Last year’s overall winner was a mariachi guitarist who took home the top talent bragging rights and trophy for his efforts.
Performers from throughout the Tracy and Mountain House areas can audition, and the proceeds of the show go toward miniature grants that will help fund school programs that couldn’t be funded under the current school budgets, such as field trips.
The winner of this year’s Tracy’s Got Talent! will perform at the Tracy Dry Bean Festival and July Fourth Day in the Park.
The fees for auditioning are: solo act, $20; small group of two to five performers, $30; and the large group of five or more audition fee $40. Contestants who register before 5 p.m. Feb 1 will receive $5 off their audition fee. Late registration, which can be done just before the judging panels, will be subject to space availability and an extra fee.
