Kimball High’s wrestling team hosted the Jaguars only home wrestling matches of the season on Wednesday. Both Oakdale and Weston Ranch came to town, and both claimed wins over Kimball. Oakdale beat Weston Ranch 41-20 at the varsity level, and Weston Ranch's junior varsity team beat Oakdale 54-15.

Kimball coach Pete Mullen said that his team, now 0-5 in Valley Oak League dual matches, is still young, and he find progress in each match.

“I was pleased with our effort,” Mullen said. “We seem to make little mistakes at key times. It’s lack of experience. We get pounded at varsity but the kids are trying and they’re not quitting on each other.”

He added that two wrestlers who claimed individual wins in both matches, Diego Alvarenga and Trent Nicholson, are still undefeated in VOL competition. The last dual matches in the VOL will be next week when Kimball and East Union go to Manteca High.

Mullen said that the team also was short on wrestlers Wednesday, so where he wasn’t able to fill in spots with junior varsity wrestlers the Jaguars had to forfeit.
