Police arrested Roberto Perez, 30, at 12:16 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, on suspicion of several acts of vandalism after they caught him in the act near the intersection of Holly Drive and Emerson Avenue.

Sometime on the night of Friday, Dec. 17, Perez allegedly began a string of spray-paint tags that stretched from Central Avenue south of the Bow Tie area north to Emerson Avenue.

Police estimated his spree caused more than $50,000 worth of damage, and so Perez is being charged with a felony.

Perez is also a documented member of the Norteño gang and as of Monday afternoon was being held in San Joaquin County Jail on $20,000 bail.

Tracy police received 393 calls for service between Friday, Dec. 17, and Sunday, Dec. 19. The following is a sample of those reports.

Friday

3:30 a.m.: A woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police spotted and stopped a “suspicious vehicle” on the 2900 block of Alfalfa Court.

6:35 a.m.: A caller on the 1600 block of Tracy Boulevard reported that someone stole several items from her locked car sometime during the night.

8:21 a.m.: A woman at Stein High School, 650 W. 10th St., said that her purse was stolen from a classroom. She called back about four hours later and told police that she found her purse.

8:32 a.m.: Police warned a “sleepy driver” after receiving a call about a reckless driver in a Volkswagen Jetta at 11th Street and Chrisman Road.

10:45 a.m.: A caller reported two men smoking drugs inside a car that was parked in the lot of Central Elementary School, 1370 Parker Ave. The men left the car and entered an apartment complex across the street. Police arrived and found the car still in the lot and identified the owner, whom they warned not to park in the school lot.

10:49 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Costco, 3250 W. Grant Line Road.

1:43 p.m.: A caller reported that a newer white Mustang was doing doughnuts in a parking lot on the 2700 block of Paradise Road.

3:09 p.m.: A silent alarm was activated at Wells Fargo Bank, 2600 S. Tracy Blvd., and police went to check it out. It turned out to be a false alarm.

4:46 p.m.: A man tried to steal a large amount of formula from FoodMaxx, 3225 N. Tracy Blvd., something that has happened a couple times in the past few weeks. The man was chased down and arrested.

6:26 p.m.: A man told police that when he met a couple guys on the 800 block of Mount Diablo Avenue in a money-for-car-rims exchange, they pulled a gun on him and stole his money. He last saw the alleged robber fleeing in a red Buick.

8 p.m.: A caller on the 900 block of Vallerand Road said that the neighbors were leaving a puppy in the backyard and it was constantly barking. Police went to the home in question about an hour later and couldn’t hear any barking, and when they tried to get in touch with the caller again there was no answer.

9:48 p.m.: A robbery was reported at Robert Kellog Park, 2224 Mount Pellier St. One of two victims said that one of a group of four teenagers pulled a Desert Eagle-type handgun on the pair, stole their phones and wallets and also ripped out the subwoofers of the car they were in.

Saturday

2:48 a.m.: A man was seen trying to pry open a car door on the 1700 West Kavanagh Avenue, and police arrested the man at gunpoint.

9:33 a.m.: Two women in a Ford pickup attracted the attention of a caller, who said they were trying to take a piece of furniture from in front of a business. Police stopped the truck at Larch and Clover roads, and made an arrest on several outstanding warrants.

1:44 p.m.: A caller reported that his car was stolen from the 2000 block of Babcock Lane.

2:10 p.m.: A group of men with backpacks climbed the fence of West High School, 1775 W. Lowell Ave. They told police that they were there for a “game of soccer,” but police cited them for being there without a permit and for having alcohol on school property.

3:44 p.m.: Police determined that a report of a child being “thrown into a chair” the night before on Winnipeg Court was false, and the child hadn’t been harmed “in any way.”

4:06 p.m.: A caller reported a driver in a Nissan Sentra was passing people on the left near Clover Road and Holly Drive, and was also blowing through stop signs. Police couldn’t find the car.

7:13 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of battery after his girlfriend said that he hit her in northern Tracy.

7:42 p.m.: Police were asked to check on the welfare of a man on the 300 block of Central Avenue who was crying — the caller was afraid the man could have hurt his wife and kids. Police found the man had been drinking because he was “just lonely” while in charge of his 7- and 6-year-old sons. He had no intention of hurting himself, he said, but police called the kids’ mother — the man’s ex-wife — to pick them up. She said she was surprised the man was intoxicated, because he doesn’t have a history of drinking.

11:10 p.m.: The doors to the Guadalupe Center, 126 W. First St., were shut and the music lowered because of a neighborhood complaint.

Sunday

2:38 a.m.: At least two callers heard at least two gunshots in the area of Covey Lane, but police couldn’t find anyone who had anything to do with the incident. No one was reported injured, and no vehicles were heard leaving the area.

1:03 p.m.: Police issued a warning to a few men whom a caller said typically loiter on the corner of A and Ninth streets. They agreed to stay away with the understanding that they’d be arrested if they returned.

2:35 p.m.: Two men ran away after a caller caught them trying to sneak in through the window of a home on the 1200 block of Lincoln Boulevard. Police weren’t able to catch them.

3 p.m.: A caller reported that two people had entered a house on the 1400 block of Eastlake Circle, and it was suspicious because the homeowners were away on vacation. The people turned out to be house sitters.

Wait a second...a 30-year-old Hispanic gang member and he's STILL tagging? Isn't that what they have teens do? Maybe he's a mentally challenged member who takes the short yellow bus to Norteno High.

Ola, Roberto Perez, you piece of S#4%! 30 years old and writing on walls. Hopefully you'll get a piece of chalk and a big black board to write on while you're in jail because to sure haven't learned what a real adult should be doing. Oh ya, how would you know, you probably never finished school as a kid. BIG BAD GANG MEMBER, you freakin' coward!!!

I enjoy your writing style also Ornley.

Many of us here may not agree with each other, but if we did this would be a very dull place. I've always believed that hearing an opposing point of view is a great learning experience for all of us.

The many regulars here even if we disagree all seem like nice people that you would like to meet. I wish all of you and your families a Merry Christmas and the greatest of New Years. I think we can all use one.

Thair about as much use as an ole cur dog walkin frum tree ta tree markin his territory.

And especially for Tracyresident. If you do not like the way that I type you do not have to read it. In the mean time, have a Merry Christmas and unwind yourself a little bit. Your heart and your family will appreciate it. :>)

Pretty pathetic if a 30 year old finds tagging/vandalism exciting. No room for him in the society as long as he destructs. He must run on fumes.

Economic terrorist... drain on the budget.

That guy probably went around with a spray paint can and no clue.

What was he thinking he was an artist?

Now some dude named Bubba is telling him he is a felon.

A real smarty right there.

And honestly he should have paid better attention in writing class.

It looks like he cant even spell.

Why is the damage at $50k and the bail at $20k.

The bail should be $70k.

$20k goes to the bail and $50k to pay for damages.

If not, throw away the key.

Hopefully he'll held responsible to pay for the damages. Just going to jail sounds like it would be just an inconvenience to this guy.

Really, a 30 year old vandal going around town spray painting? These southside gangsters are just a bunch of cowards that think they are bad because they spray paint roman numerals and wear red bandanas, but in reality they are nothing but weak minded losers that can not think for themselves. From Mike Mau aka white mike to this punk vandal this whole gang are a bunch of cowards that when confronted will break like a piece of cheap ply wood. One big middle finger to ALL THE PIECE OF CRAP GANGBANGERS IN TRACY! Don't let me catch you in my area messing around because I just might arm bar you punks and take that arm for my trophy!

Thanks for the laugh Ornley. That was great.

I would think the simple thought of having Bubba fancy someones backside would be a huge deterrent for crime. Since these losers don't fear the law, maybe we should teach their young about the promise of having their backside violated regularly. Maybe that would have them thinking twice about committing a crime.????

Not sure where Cody01 lives, but I'm off off 11th/Corral Hollow, and see new graffiti in the area on a weekly basis, every week, for the last 5 years. Nothing being done about it from where I stand.

There has been a significant reduction if graffiti in Tracy.

Something is working.
