At 5:32 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, a female caller heard a prowler banging on the side of the house and window glass shattering on the 2700 block of Oxford Court. She turned the outside light on, which may have scared the prowler. Her parents arrived home a few minutes later, but the only sign of the intruder was a broken window.

Tracy police logged 182 calls on Thursday, Nov. 18, including the following reports:

• 6:21 a.m.: Someone found a raptor with a broken leg at Home Depot, 2461 Naglee Road. The caller took the injured bird to Tracy Animal Shelter.

• 7:16 a.m.: A car was stolen sometime during the night from the 2500 block of Almador Drive.

• 7:57 a.m.: A caller on the 1300 block of Hamlet Court could hear women screaming in the backyard of the house. It turns out the caller’s dog had drowned in a pool.

• 8:34 a.m.: Solicitors were in front of Walmart, 3010 W. Grant Line Road, even though they were told to leave earlier in the week.

• 10:47 a.m.: A caller on Mimosa Court called police to say she was scammed out of $7,000 from a business called National Employees Benefit Group.

• 2:11 p.m.: A 68-year-old woman was going door-to-door on O’Hara Drive and asking residents if they have a room for rent. Police asked her to stop doing that.

• 3:01 p.m.: Someone on the 2500 block of Entrada Way said someone took prescription anxiety medication from her bathroom.

• 3:55 p.m.: A man who was “reluctant to answer questions” said his neighbor punched him in the face while they were arguing about parking on the 1800 block of Alegre Drive. The caller then said he couldn’t “decide” or remember why the neighbor hit him, nor could he come up with a description of the neighbor. The man called back three minutes later and reported the exact same incident — not remembering he had already spoken to police. He also said he was bleeding.

• 4:59 p.m.: A house was broken into on the 1700 block of Camelia Drive, and someone found a “string on the ground that may have been used to gain entry.”

• 5:17 p.m.: Two men were “aggressively” panhandling next to the ATM at the downtown Tracy Bank of America, 111 W. 10th St. A police officer issued them citations.

• 5:20 p.m.: A home-alone boy on Rhett Court heard the dog bark, and then saw someone in dark clothing jump the fence and head toward a nearby vacant house.

• 6:33 p.m.: A homeless man was asking people for money as they went through the drive-through of Jack in the Box, 611 W. Grant Line Road.

• 8:32 p.m.: A woman called police after visiting the Dollar Tree, 2691 N. Tracy Blvd. It seems a man there threatened to shoot her with a gun.

• 8:33 p.m.: Loud music brought police to a house on the 100 block of East 21st St. Officers arrested a 20-year-old man on a warrant for previous charges of public intoxication and giving false identification to a police officer.

• 9:19 p.m.: A man wearing a black hoodie and a beanie “tackled” a woman near Safeway, 1801 W. 11th St., took her large purse, and ran off toward Jack in the Box. A security guard saw the man get into a vehicle.

• This column includes a sample of items as reported in the Tracy Police Department dispatcher’s daily log. Additional information is based on reports from officers and other law enforcement agencies. To report information anonymously about a crime: Crime Stoppers, 831-6847.

Another excellent reason that every one should be armed.

Tis the season, folks. Christmas is coming up so all the creeps, bums, winos, drug addicts, etc congregate in front of stores to intimidate customers for money. Only way to stop this is go into the store and complain to the manager. Tell the manager you're very uncomfortable being accosted by street crap and if it continues you'll shop elsewhere. Then follow thru on that. It's not only obnoxious being hit on by a POS,you worry about your nice, new vehical out in the parking lot if you don't give them money.

I hope they sent medical help for the guy who most likely had a concussion, with lapses in memory-thats serious. I wanted to comment on the pan handlers...I am more just avoiding businsess that allow them to loiter about.

-A A 20 y/o man on a warrant for PREVIOUS charges or public intoxication. Good Grief.

I know it can be different from alcohol, but that is besides the point.
