Herbert Ketchum

Services will be Monday, July 16, in San Andreas for former Tracy resident Herbert Ketchum, 93, a retired carpenter. He died July 2 in a convalescent hospital in San Andreas.

Born Nov. 1, 1918, in Nowata, Okla., Mr. Ketchum served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the invasion of Italy.

He lived in Tracy from 1971 to 1987 and worked at Tracy Defense Depot as a carpenter before retiring.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mabel “Vinetta” Ketchum of Valley Springs; three children, Keith Ketchum of Newark, Castle Ketchum, and his wife, Jeanne, of Manteca and Linda Dituri, and her husband, Joe, of Valley Springs; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

A celebration of Mr. Ketchum’s life will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at San Andreas Memorial Chapel, 254 W. St. Charles St., in San Andreas.
