EDITOR,

I have been waiting for the new restaurants to open for several months. I visit the farmers market every week to see if there is any progress. I think it is great that the Alvarez family is putting the effort into promoting bringing business to downtown for the evenings and weekends. Every time I look into these storefronts, I see nothing or a bunch of used restaurant equipment. Are these empty promises to the residents of Tracy? I work in the food service business. The idea is to get the store open ASAP and make money. Did the prospective owners have a pipe dream with no financial backing to do this? Very sad.

Don't hold your breath. When other businesses see the rate other businesses are closing in this city they'll pick Manteca or Livermore to open up shop.
