Your Voice: Hernandez wrong for Tracy

The most important contest in the upcoming election in Tracy is for the 10th Congressional District.

There are many reasons why Democrat Jose Hernandez is the wrong choice for Tracy and the valley. Democrats in Congress have approved trillion-dollar deficits every year under President Barack Obama, and he and Rep. Nancy Pelosi have now recruited Mr. Hernandez to assist them in passing even more deficit spending and higher taxes on businesses and individuals.

The Democrats passed health care reform on Christmas Eve 2009, against the will of the American people and with zero bipartisan support. The American people voted 63 tax-and-spend Democrats out of Congress in 2010 as a result.

Hernandez supports this bad legislation, which the Supreme Court has upheld as the largest tax increase in recent history. Hernandez has also stated his support for tax increases to pay for the high-speed rail boondoggle, which will eliminate valuable farmland in this valley and cost millions of dollars every year that could go to our schools. Meanwhile, the state budget is also swimming in red ink.

Hernandez is a busy guy — he is apparently too busy to even vote in local elections in Houston, Texas. A decade later, he wants to move back here, and represent Tracy in Congress?

Deficit spending and higher taxes — California Democrats give us both when they have the power to do so. Don’t give them that power on Nov. 6. Vote for Rep. Jeff Denham for Congress in the 10th District.

And now Prop 30, 38 are used by Sacramento politicians and lobbyists to blackmail us. Create California’s future. Vote No on Prop 30, 38, 32. Keep the California dream alive and well.

Decisions you make on Nov 6 determine California’s course for years. We are kidding ourselves by believing that education funding shortfalls disappear with Prop 30, Prop 38.

Prop 30, Prop 38 levy significant taxes on each one of us. The wounds that Prop 30, 38 are to heal have been self inflicted largely by our elected Sacramento politicians who simply do not say no to any influential interest group be they, University of California (29% increase in salaries last 6 years), public employees, business, teachers, or other unions or lobbyists.
