EDITOR,

Lord God, our heavenly father, you created the universe and everything — and everyone in it. You gave us the right to choose for ourselves which of the many available paths we would decide to travel. Some of those roads are pleasing to you. But must of those walkways lead in directions that carry us further over time.

Most of us have learned what to do and how to act, originally from our parents and later from our peers and those we admire. They, in turn, are watching us as we mature together. Through the media we learn what is “acceptable behavior.” As parents, we teach our children as they learn from us.

But acceptable behavior has changed over the generations into way that would not have been permitted 40 or 50 years ago. We might know technical things our parents never knew, but many accepted things today would not have been tolerated when our parents were our age.

Having babies outside of marriage was never looked upon lightly in years past. Today, however, the pregnancy centers nationally deal with thousands of young women who are carrying children, many seeking an abortion. But because the local Pregnancy Resource Center and its national affiliates do not perform abortions, they must look elsewhere for the solution to terminate.

Technically, we have advanced over the years. Morally, we have declined in fulfilling the expectations that you hold up for us. Why? Because the standards in our society today say that sex and marijuana among our teens are not the shameful acts they once were. And the lies and cheating that are so prevalent in our world today were avoided by men and women of integrity in the past. Those wrongs of the past are today considered tolerable.

Violence and bullying in our schools are rampant today. Gangs are everywhere and people of all ages are being raped and murdered. Why? Because we no longer believe in morality once taught by our parents, morality that they learned in their homes, schools and houses of worship.

God, you take a back seat in our society today. And our world is paying the consequences. We, as a society, are allowing these tragedies to become everyday occurrences.

Our world needs to change. We need to return to godly values — values that used to be taught in our schools, our churches, as well as our homes.

We as a nation simply cannot allow these tragedies to occur in our land, where babies are murdered in cold blood in classrooms that once were free from violence on the scale we see today.

Lord God, I pray that you would change the hearts of our country’s leaders to allow and encourage godly values to return to America once again.

Exactly my point. Why are Tracyites so limited in their world vision? So if a man and woman don't smoke pot, and don't have sex before marriage, then all is well with morality? Why don't we just go live in Saudi Arabia? These are the Tracy Taliban. Beware, save your daughters, they are the kind of people who want to look the other way if a priest is molesting a kid. Sickos!

The Taliban types are wrong for protecting their drug turf with violence. Uneducated Americans should not continue to support terrorism by smoking their dope, debdaves. If the Pope is wrong. He's wrong.

Two wrongs don't make a right, debdaves. That's where your logic breaks down.

For example.

Many people from Tracy gathered over prayer vigils and piles of teddy bears that were left on the sidewalk several years back. Nobody turned away. All the businesses put up signs ((every single one)) in hopes to find a little one. A lost one. Still they remember.

But what you do is a dis-service to their hopes and their prayers that the world will become a better place.

My prayer. I hope you will let go of the hate and work to make the world less hateful. Have a good day!

Morality in terms of sex and marijuana, that's your concern? Not violence, war, human rights? Sounds like you live on 11th Street.

No on both accounts. But I'll take the discussion on societal issues. Do you really believe that you are the only person in the world concerned with human rights, voilence, bullying, minority issues too? You are not. I am a lot more concerned with societal issues than you think. Based on your irrational leap of logic, I'm actually concerned that if we were to discuss societal issues, we may find common ground, but I am not convinced your heart is in the right place. Do you realize the number of hours I have spent volunteer teaching underpriveledged? Just based on your assumption I am not even convinced you understand societal issues. My guess is that you are upset about one thing and associating something else to make yourself feel better. Glad I could help, but how does it contribute anything to societal issues? I don't know, but thanks for the response anyway.

After reading this I thought of the recent incident where a few teenagers were caught busting milk cartons at a grocery store.

When I was young and someone stole from someone their parents would march them back to the store and make them pay for it. I believe we are seeing a moral decay and some of it has to do with the parents not caring. If the parents don't care then the children will be worse off.

By the way, thanks for all the inputs, so I didn't get dragged through the mud with that other commenter who was having a bad year, I guess. It is what it is. Best to just leave it.

doorsc, As a reminder this really has nothing to do with DD per se, it has more to do with a dislike of people who cannot hold a civil discussion, accept facts, or present any empirical or even decent anecdotal evidence for their claims regardless of gender, race, or political affiliation. You seem to also choose this particular path of engagement.

Let's try one moe time to see if we can have a civil discussion on something I find extremely important to helping stem the pace of our regression as a society - civil, intelligent, and well informed debate on the issues.

You, DD, and others believe you can say whatever you want, about whoever you want, whenever you want. You belive you have this right under the First Amendement, I say all of you are wrong.

To support my view I present the fact libel & slander laws exist. Please explain why, if your belief is correct, we have libel & slander laws. DD, feel free to join in.

JackRabbits, In her own words - by the way, these are mild compared to the large number of her comments deleted by TP staff.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, the best of conservative republicans. I wish I could shoot them."

"Yet another white guy appointed....welcome to Tracy."

"Repubtards want to pass anti abortion laws in order to prevent abortion but not to pass anti gun laws in order to prevent killing.....What gives?"

"BIB Ask your mother/sister to change your diaper already. Stop being such a cry baby"

'Better luck next time repubtards of Tracy. Put this in your pipe and smoke it ya all!'

"Congratulations to all Democrats! Thank God we have Obama leading us rather than a retarded fanatic."

"Why don't you go shoot some pigeons or something or sleep with your first cousin and make another baby, to feel better? Welcome to Tracy."

"Also there are shootings and there are lynchings, such as those in Tracy by conservatives against liberals. If looks could kill I would be dead. The venom you spew out of your mouth is no less lethal than bullets."

doorsc, if you are going to walk the path of DD at least go all in, it's chauvinist.

Hahahahahaha

I was trying to keep quiet but your comment deserves a response. "Get some class" goes for everyone who lives in Tracy, specially male ch. pigs who pick on liberal women like debbdaves. Just sayin.......

Jack apparently you still live in a Rabbit hole. Modern reality is that women have the right to choose, that modern medicine makes it possible to make a choice before it's do or die, that women don't have to be sent into caves to have a child against their will........and no, not everyone wears pants down to their knees, specially girls, and even in the rabbit days men walked around with nothing more than a patch to cover their behinds, so get over yourselves and allow evolution to take its course.......its about science, not religion. And no, you don't have to married to have children, and republicans are not pure and free of evil, there are good and bad on both sides, and no, it's not a sin to be liberal, or gay, just ask the Pope.

Anyone know what debdave is so upset about that felt compelled to respond on another topic(s) about having abortions in a cave or in another Islamic country or cave men covering themselves with a loincloth like Tarzan? Is it normal for her to act like this to promote her political science? Not wanting to rain on her parade or her political aspirations. Just wondering if she is a troll who hates anyone she disagrees with? If so, I will just leave it.
Hahahahahaha

March 05, 2013
JackRabbits, you must be new here.

I will answer your questions in the order in which you asked them:

1. No, nobody ever knows what debbdaves is ever talking about. Ever. Not even debbdaves.

2. Yes, it is normal for her to act like this. If you’re going to be part of these comment sections, you’ll just have to get used to her brand of crazy.

3. Yes, she is definitely a troll.

I hope that clears things up for you.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?

Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing?

Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able, and willing?

Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing?

Then why call him God?

Epicurus
JackRabbits
|
March 05, 2013
Epicurus asked a good question.

Unfortunately he excluded the Bible when he searched for the answers. He excluded Jesus Christ as a savior as a healer as the one who was willing to take the sins and evil and defeat the grave. Without understanding God as "I am", Epicurus could only rely on philosophy created by man. In other words, the "God" that Epicurus describes is ONLY a "god" that he created in his own mind and not the God in the Bible who describes himself by saying, "God is love".

To Epicurus, his god is old and incapable of anything or does not even care. But understandibly so, because Epicurus probably looked at people worshiping idols/statues and decided that's not where it's all at.

Given that comtext, the Bible may line up with Epicurus only in that sense, because it says, "you shall not worship idols". Something he probably looked on as boorish behavior because people worshiped whatever idol they felt appropriate at the moment. God of love, money, war, crops, etc, etc.

And this disdain was for good reason, because idol worshiping in all its forms (animism, etc, etc) confused a lot of people into atheism without ever understanding who Jesus Christ was.

Dear god, hear my prayer. Please encourage the republicans continue to infringe upon women’s reproductive rights so they will continue to alienate the largest voter demography. Please have the conservatives continue to opine about rape victims. Please have the Republican Party continue to concentrate about how to infuse religion, “morality” and their “Family Values” upon others. Please give the Tea Party more influence so they may dictate the campaign platforms for the conservatives. Please have the NRA continue to make recommendations to place barbed wire and armed guards in our schools so we may own assault rifles in the vent of a “patriotic revolution”. Please have all republican leaders to be as intelligent as Sara Palin & Michelle Bachman. Please have the conservatives hold on to their “core values” even though the majority of this country is fleeing to the left. Please do all of the above so the Republican Party will be even less relevant than they have become.
HarryTrumanConservative

March 01, 2013
At least conservatives have values. Thank goodness they don't make utterly stupid statements like the mentally dysfunctional Nancy Pelosi who stated " Republicans want to leave women die on the operating room floor {after their abortion}

The Democrats worship at the altar of abortion. Funny, they promote killing a baby in the womb but they want to take guns away from law abiding citizens who want to protect themselves against the lawless Democrat thieves who want to break into citizens homes and steal what others have and will even kill to get what they want.

You see, these criminals believe in Obama's redistribution of wealth but are one step ahead of political Democrats who will legally steal from others to enrich themselves by passing laws to steal other's money.

The criminals don't wait for laws, they just break in and take it and if they kill someone in the process, so what!

Democrats look at child pornography and call it "free speech". Democrats disdain Jews because they refused to acknowledge Israel as a Homeland for the Jews in their most recent convention and had it removed from their platform.

Why do you pray "RONINDRAN"? Democrats don't believe in God and had it removed from their platform in the same convention.

It is easy to be a Democrat. They are the lazy peoples political party. No work, just playing their violent video games and watching bloody, gory movies promoted by their fellow Democrats in Hollywood.
jtashjian

March 03, 2013
HarryTrumanConservative: So to be clear, you view all democrats as Anti-sematic, atheistic, Gun hating home burglars who play violent video games? Listen to yourself. Just because you began to vote during the Harry Truman presidency does not mean you have to be out of touch with modern reality.
JackRabbits
|
March 05, 2013
What is the modern reality? Does that phrase imply something changed somewhere along the line? If so, what did "the modern reality" change? Did "the modern reality" improve anything?

Why do people tout "the modern reality"? Nobody I know (republicans/democrats/tea party/green/etc) think that anything modern is getting any better.

Jobless teenagers walking around with their pants on the ground. It's better? How? Because they don't care anymore? What has improved with "the new reality"?

Anything?

Anyone?

Dear ronindran, hear my prayer. Please let only those who voted for Obama lose their jobs because of his inept leadership and lack of knowledge on the economy. For proof look at the still high unemployment rate especially among black & hispanic Americans, lower average incomes, highest number of people on foodstamps and other government programs in history, etc.

Also hear my prayer that only those who voted for Obama are part of the collateral damage if & when he starts allowing drone strikes within our borders.

Liberals were coming unglued over The Patriot Act but you hardly hear a peep about Obama's drone strikes, and now this little ditty:

midwestgirl, I think you missed TMC's point about Sandra Fluke. He didn't indicate not believing it takes two to tango, he simply referenced a woman who thinks we the tax payers should foot the bill for her personal choices.

I don't recall any man going before Congress and putting forth the belief the tax payers should pay for his condoms. Get it? It's not blame, it's one woman and apparently others like you playing the victim card.

Here's the personal choice I make, now the rest of you should pay for it, sorry, no cigar here lady.

Fluke went on to say contraception is a health issue, ok fine. Working out and eating right beyond a doubt is a health issue, right? I don't see anyone like me who works out, eats right, and doesn't smoke going before Congress and claiming we deservce government subsidies to pay for weights, protein powder, workout clothing, vitamins, etc.

Why? Because we do so by our own volition and unlike Sandra Fluke do not expect someone else to pay.

TMC is correct, it's a liberal/Democrat agenda to convince people someone owes them something and they are not responsible for their own choices and actions, it's always somebody elses fault.

When I was a teen i read a book by Allan Sherman, Called The Rape of the A*P*E* "American Puritan Ethic". and the sexual revolution.

It tells of how they were having sex back then also, they would just hide the girl off in some strange place until the baby was born to be adopted out or forced to marry the jerks or forced into back alley abortions.

If they were not having sex back then none of us would be here.

This is what you get when you have the ME IT IS ALLL ABOUT ME BOOMER generation running the show.

They spent more time chasing the mighty dollar than spending time with the kiddies. It all starts at home.

Matthew 7:16

By their fruit you will recognize them.

The Wise and Foolish Builder BOOMERS whom tore it all down for their own gain.

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

This idea that things were somehow better or we were more moral decades ago is a fantasy. The fact is that violent crime rates are quite low compared to those times that that author would rather return to (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Violent_crime_rates_by_gender_1973-2003.jpg).

Similarly, teen pregnancies are at a 40 year low (http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/02/08/teen-pregnancy-rates-reach-dramatic-40-year-low-in-us/).

The author ignores the obvious truth: our more secular society has produced lower crime and teen sexual activity, not more.

U may want to check out the number of abortions there Sneaky. The crime rate went down because the economy picked up.

Carter thought everyone should own a home even if their family could not afford it. This caused a mass influx of people to run to their home loan agent asking for $500,000 or more in debt.

The numbers do not indicate that secular society reduced crime. It indicates they created an economic bubble to live in. Only to pretend the real world does not exist.

The real estate companies were happy and the banks were happy and the investors were happy because deregulation came along and even allowed them to sell your loan overseas.

Watch the documentary called A House of Cards.

I wonder why so many of us always romanticize the past. It’s always been that way. I do it occasionally when I see or read something I don’t like and fall back on saying, well back in my day. I’m sure some do it to make a point to fit their political agenda or whatever beliefs they have, but I can remember how my grandparents would tell me how much a better place the world was in a past era, as did my great-grandparents.

If we had the ability to travel back in time we may actually discover that the past wasn’t the Mayberry or Norman Rockwell painting that we imagine it to be, especially if you’re a minority.

50 years from now when most of us will be taking a dirt nap, you just know that someone will be praising how things were today, and wish we could return with those same values that made it a better place to live. It’ll never change.

This is what happens when you allow political factions like the Democrats turn our educational system into a social experiment. The most recent Democrat Convention was a parade in our cultures deviants.

A woman who loves casual sex and feels America should pay fpr all her sexual protection even though she makes $160,000 per annum was given a front and center platform. She loves her casual sex as she inferred with her Congressional testimony and has become a heroine for Democrats everywhere.

She is a product of our Democrat run educational institution known as public schools. Social indoctrination continues daily producing deviants like her.

Our President champions this kind of behavior. Remember, it was Obama who said he did not want his daughter "PUNISHED" with a child. Even our leaders have a perverted view of the world and our country votes these people into office because they like all the FREE stuff.

What do you expect?

So where are all the men who drop sperm and run at.

"A woman who loves casual sex and feels America should pay fpr all her sexual protection"

Typical of a MALE blame the woman, when I learned in my PUBLIC EDUCATION SEX ED CLASSES that it takes TWO A MALE AND FEMALE to produce a baby.

They also taught us BOTH birth control and abstinence way back when.

Men if you are so worried about that sperm then you might want to teach the boys to protect it from being dropped off on just anyone.
