EDITOR,

I support the opportunity Tracy residents have by partnering with strong, reputable developers such as AKT Development and Souza Realty

&

Development. I’m one of many who work in an industry directly supported by economic and housing growth. Measure A, the city’s slow growth law, may have been perceived as “the answer” to controlled growth, and frankly, it’s not. Measure A has and will continue to negatively impact our city’s revenue growth. We need revenue dollars to pay for critical infrastructure, housing and economic growth and necessary revenue for other pertinent city and community services.

Tracy is a thriving and strong community that will grow, whether Tracy Region Alliance for a Quality Community likes it or not. TRAQC is a small group of naysayers that have and always will be against anything that doesn’t give them a chance to make personal or financial gain.

Today, I’m joined by hundreds of residents who are standing up to say “yes” for future growth, for the much-needed sports fields for kids, for the opportunity to gain revenue from these investments and for the collaboration with developers that have invested so much in Tracy and will continue to invest in the community.

It’s easy to always stand against everything. It’s much harder to support something wholeheartedly. I challenge all my colleagues and concerned citizens to stand up for Tracy’s children and future.

Ellen Peterson, Tracy
