EDITOR,
As a parent of two Tracy High School students, I was wondering when construction would start on the new West Building I had thought that it would be a priority to start construction once school finished earlier this month.
I would think that construction would be easier and safer without students present. I do understand that the project will take longer than the 2½ months that the students are off for the summer, but it seems like a wasted opportunity to do nothing for the past three weeks. So far, the only thing going on in the fenced-off area is that the weeds are getting taller.
When we voted for the tax increase with the Measure E bonds, there was a time limit on the job in order to qualify for more funds. I do not know the status of the West High School improvements, but as for Tracy High, there is nothing but weeds to see.

Editor’s note: Construction of Tracy High School’s new 40-classroom building is awaiting removal of contaminated dirt found at the site and final bid approval. It should begin by the end of July with completion in August 2008.
