The bride graduated from University of the Pacific with bachelor’s degree in engineering in 2009 and a master’s in civil engineering in 2011. A member of the Tracy High Class of 2004, she works as a civil engineer for URS in Sacramento.
Michelle is the daughter of Steven and Debra Hawley of Tracy. She has one brother, Daniel Hawley of Sacramento. Grandmother Lynn Hawley lives in Mercer Island, Wash.
The groom graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 2003 and a master’s degree in 2005. Nicholas works as an electrical engineer at General Dynamics GIT in Grass Valley.
His parents, Steven and Lucinda Layshot, live in Nevada City, and his brother, Daniel Layshot, lives in Grass Valley. Grandmother Evelyn Thorp lives in Pinole.
Nicholas proposed to Michelle on Dec. 27, 2011, while cross-country skiing in Squaw Valley.
Michelle’s maid of honor was Amanda Misetich, and Nicholas’ best men were Daniel Layshot and Will Simmons.
The couple was also attended by groomsmen Daniel Hawley, Gabriel Molina and Matthew Scheifer and bridesmaids Laura Santos, Krysta Dremel, Sarah Collins and Vanessa Kelly.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Thailand. They have made their home together in Grass Valley.
