Millennium High’s volleyball team has gone through a coaching change midway through the Central California Athletic Alliance season.

Pamela Carroll-Adams, in her third year as the Falcons’ coach, said the school released her after a loss to Brookside Christian on Oct. 10.

According to Carroll-Adams, she was fired when parents and players became upset at her for criticizing players’ efforts in the game.

"I know I was justified in my reaction," she said. "They were upset that I had a problem with them losing and not trying hard enough."

Millennium athletic director Jayson Dias said junior varsity coach Paul Lee will lead both the JV and varsity teams for the rest of the season.

Dias would not comment on the matter, other than to say that Adams-Carroll’s release was not related to performance or any disciplinary issues.

Coaches are paid a stipend for their work, but Carroll-Adams is not a teacher at the school.
