Verna Serrano, 84, a lifelong Tracy resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, at New Hope Care Center. All services will be private.

Mrs. Serrano, a Banta native, was born July 22, 1929. She worked 42 years as a line worker at H.J. Heinz Co. She was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and a member of Teamsters Union Local 439.

Survivors include three siblings, Joe Gwerder, and his wife, Dolly, and Mike Gwerder, all of Tracy, and Rosemary Redgate of North Carolina; and four nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Manuel Serrano, preceded her in death in 1997.
