Mrs. Pimentel died Friday, Feb. 22, at her home.
Born on Feb. 1, 1938, in Ladeira Grande, Terceira, in the Azores, she immigrated to the United States with her parents and brother in 1950.
She and her husband were married in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in 1954, and they began Pimentel Dairy on Grant Line Road in 1970. She helped feed calves and kept the books until her retirement.
Mrs. Pimentel was a member of the IPFES and Portuguese Fraternal Society of America and a founding member of the Tracy Hospital Foundation Pillar Society. A parishioner of St. Bernard’s, she was also active in the St. Bernard’s Mothers Club. She sponsored scholarships for Tracy High School FFA students for more than 30 years.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Pimentel, and his wife, Sheryl, and Kyle Pimentel, and his companion, Alicia; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; an aunt; two nieces; three nephews; a godmother; and many godchildren and other relatives.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Joseph Pimentel Sr.; a son, Jerry Pimentel; parents, Manuel and Mary Pires; a brother, Candido Pires; and a brother- and sister-in-law, Frank and Mary Alegre.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave., followed by burial in Tracy Cemetery, 501 E. Schulte Road. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave.
