Two Classic gymnasts lead division at invitational

Classic Gymnastics of Tracy traveled to Vallejo on Oct. 24 to compete in the Hollywood Invitational, hosted by North Bay Athletic Association.
Results included a first-place finish for Payton Bryant and a second-place finish for Kaylin Dennington, both in the Level 4, 9- and 10-year-old division. Kaylin recorded her fifth straight first-place finish on the uneven bars.
Classic’s Level 4 team placed third overall. All of the team’s gymnasts from all levels have qualified to attend zone championships in Stockton on Nov. 7.
Donna Rotella: vault, first (9.475), bars (8.1), beam, sixth (8.475), floor, third (8.774), all-around, fourth (34.825).
Tracy gymnast Jaala Downes, who trains at West Coast Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Pleasanton, also traveled to the Hollywood Invitational. In her first season in the Level 5 Younger division, Jaala placed second all-around with a score of 36.1, which included a tie for first on the floor exercise, 9.3; second on balance beam, 9.15; fourth on the uneven bars, 8.95; and second on vault, 8.7.
