Track and field: Trojans outscore Bulldogs

Tracy High’s track and field team hosted San Joaquin Athletic Association rival Lincoln on Thursday, April 19, at West High. The Trojans outscored Tracy at all levels and took first place in most events.

Tracy’s varsity girls are 1-2 in the SJAA, the varsity boys are 0-3, and both freshman-sophomore teams are 1-2.

The Bulldogs have two more meets, including one at Bear Creek on Thursday, April 26, and against Chavez at West High on May 3.

On Thursday, Lincoln won at the varsity girls level, 85-37.

Tracy’s best event was the pole vault, sweeping the top three places. Kaitlin Mizuno won with a jump of 9 feet, and Mackenzie Simon and Bridget Connolly both cleared the bar at 8 feet, 6 inches.

Toni Juarez placed second in both the long jump and triple jump, with her distances not available. Katrina Bruder was second in the shot put, 30-6, and discus, 84-6. Tracy also won the 4x400 meter relay.

Lincoln outscored Tracy’s varsity boys, 100-27.

Tracy’s Fabien Monarrez won both the shot put, 44-1, and the discus, 121-1. Justin Phelps won the high jump, 6-2, and Justin Woo won the pole vault, 13.

Tracy put up the best competition in the freshman-sophomore boys division, where Lincoln won, 73-53.

Tracy’s Gregory Trevino won both the shot put, 44-9, and the discus, 102-5.

Other first-place Bulldog athletes were Davis Jenkins in the 300-meter hurdles, 1 45.44; Branden Black, 800 meters, 2:16.68; Joshua Clarke, high jump, 5-8; and Devin Foster, pole vault, height not reported.

Tracy also won the 4x400-meter relay.

Lincoln won the freshman-sophomore girls division, 89-26.

Top performers for Tracy were Karlie Brown in the high jump, 4-6, and Alissa Brown in the pole vault, 6-6. Tracy also won the 4x400-meter relay.
