Track and Field: Local athletes finish strong at Arcadia

Three local athletes finished among the top track and field competitors in the state at the Arcadia Invitational in Southern California on Saturday, April 7.

West High senior Deon Pinder competed in the triple jump and finished with a sixth-place mark of 46 feet, 1 ¾ inches, which he attained on his third of six jumps. His West teammate, senior Elisha Mitchell, finished eighth in the long jump with a mark of 22-½, which he established on his second effort of the day.

Also competing was De La Salle sophomore Blair Hurlock, who is from Tracy. He ran in the frosh-soph Rising Stars Mile and placed ninth, with a time of 4 minutes, 28 seconds.
