The Thomsens, rural Tracy residents for 49 years, were married Feb. 16, 1964, in Carson City, Nev.
Their anniversary party was Feb. 15 at the Tracy Elks Lodge, where Ken is a member. His sister Kathy Thomsen made a “kransekake,” a traditional Danish wedding cake, for the occasion.
For more than 40 years of their married life, Ken has run Thomsen Farms on Durham Ferry Road and Paulette has kept the books. The ranch, operated by the couple and now their children and grandchildren, produces almonds, tomatoes and alfalfa. Paulette was also bookkeeper for El Solyo Water District for 10 years in the 1980s and 1990s.
Ken and Paulette are both members of the First Presbyterian Church, the Silicon Valley Model A Restorers Club and the Dania Hall in Livermore. Paulette was a 4-H leader for more than 20 years.
Their children are Kim Thomsen-Guillen, Jamie Thomsen and Bob Henricus, and Kristin and Tracy Thomsen, all of whom live on the family ranch. The Thomsens have eight grandchildren.
