Tennis: West wins two against McNair

West 5, McNair 4

The West tennis team claimed another Tri-City Athletic League win on Thursday at West High, 5-4 over McNair, to move to 3-1 in the TCAL, 6-2 overall. Wins for West in the singles were: Martin Delgadillo beat Johnny Penn 7-5, 7-5; Ardi Nateghi beat Sensoma Thatch 6-4, 6-3; Michael Melech beat Mathurin Loch 6-1, 6-3; Alex Adams beat Alvin Ho 6-1, 6-4; Mark Olsen and Lucas Vasquez beat Haffed Ali and Nic Moreno 6-1, 6-6 (7-4).

West’s Noel Antonio lost to Soben Sao 6-4, 4-6, 0-6; and West’s Gerardo Chavez lost to Raymond Aguda 6-1, 5-7, 4-6. In the doubles, West’s Trevor Lewis and Ahssan Khan lost to Patrick Shah and June Dinh 6-7, 6-4, 6-7; and Jahan Vieji and Calvin Ly lost to Thien Phan and Daniel Seante 5-7, 7-5, 4-6.

West 9, McNair 0

The West High tennis team moved to 2-1 in the Tri-City Athletic League, 5-2 overall, with wins in all matches at McNair High on Wednesday. West won all of the singles matches in straight sets. Martin Delgadillo beat Johnny Penn 6-3, 6-4; Noel Antonio beat Soben Sao 6-3, 6-3; Gerardo Chavez beat Raymond Aguda 6-3, 6-2; Ardi Nateghi beat June Dinh 6-2, 6-3; Michael Melech beat Mathurin Loch 6-1, 6-0; and Alex Adams beat Alvin Ho 6-0, 6-2.

Lincoln 4, Tracy 1

Tracy took a loss last Tuesday against San Joaquin Athletic Association rival Lincoln in Stockton. Lincoln won all of the singles matches in straight sets. Michael Pinkerton beat Ryan Black 6-0, 6-1; Jonathon Sievers beat Derek Paris 6-0, 6-1; and Nick Penker beat Jeremiah Salud 6-4, 6-0. In the doubles, Lincoln’s David Sievers and Sajan Patel beat Casey Wichman and Tanner Silva 7-5, 6-3. Tracy’s only was in the number-two doubles, where Steven Andrade and Himanshu Arora beat Rey DeLaCruz and Kevin Trreu-Nguyen 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.

Tracy 5, Chavez 0

Tracy won all matches in straight sets over San Joaquin Atheltic Association rival Chavez on Tuesday, March 29, at Tracy High. Niraj Punjya beat Eric Ho 7-6 (7-3), 6-1; Ryan Black beat Austin Phengg 6-0, 6-2; and Anthony Klassen beat Kevin Singh 6-2, 7-5. In the doubles, Casey Wichman and Tanner Silva beat Gabrial Gallegos and Seng Le 6-0, 6-2; and Derek Paris and Jeremiah Salud beat Karan Sing and Kevin Vang 6-1, 6-2.
