Elks free throw Hoop Shoot

WHEN: 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1

WHERE: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church gymnasium, 1635 Chester Drive

DETAILS: Tracy Elks Lodge 2031 will host the local competition of the Elks National Hoop Shoot contest. The contest is open for boys and girls ages 8 through 13. Practice starts at 9:30 a.m. and contests begin at 10 a.m., starting with the 8-9 age group, then ages 10-11 and then ages 12-13. Local winners progressively advance to district, state, regional and national championships.

Tracy Titans tryouts

DETAILS: The Tracy Titans will have open tryouts for the 2013 spring and summer season. All positions are open on the Titans 10U, 12U and 14U teams. 10U players try out at 8 a.m., 12U at 11 a.m. and 14U at 2 p.m.

Brighter Christmas run/walk

WHEN: 7:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8

WHERE: Eagal Lakes Resort, 12 Lorenzen Road

DETAILS: Eagal Lakes Resort will have a 5K run/walk as a benefit for 1,000 families served by Brighter Christmas. Ribbons and medals will be awarded to the top finishers in seven age groups, with all ages welcome to participate, plus an award for the best Christmas-themed costume. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and the run starts at 9 a.m.

COST: $50, with a $5 for those who pre-register before Nov. 27, and a $10 discount for participants who bring a new unwrapped gift for the Brighter Christmas toy drive. There is also a discounted family fee of $120 for those who preregister, or $100 for those who preregister with a gift.

Charity workout

WHEN: Registration 8 a.m., event begins at 9 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8

WHERE: Crossfit Tracy, 4220 Commercial Drive, Ste. 18

DETAILS: Crossfit Tracy will host a charity workout event that supports the Leukemia Society and John Hopkins A-T Children’s Project. Workout teams will each include two male and two female members. There will be a bake sale, including food suitable for the paleo diet, as well as music and prizes.

Junior Warriors boys basketball camp

WHEN: 9 a.m. for ages 6 to 8, 10 a.m. for ages 9 to 11, 11 a.m. for ages 12 to 14, Saturdays from Dec. 15 to Jan 12.

DETAILS: Junior Warriors Boys Basketball League for boys ages 6 to 14, hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy, is taking signups for the winter league. Players can attend any of the clinics, and the Jan. 12 clinic is the deadline to sign up for the winter league. Practices will begin Jan. 19 and games begin Feb. 2. Signup forms are available at the Hastie Clubhouse.
